Volume 1, Issue 1
Dear Friends,
It is hard to believe that we are already into the seventh year of this 21st century! It only seems like yesterday that people were filled with alarm preparing for Y2K ~ stockpiling canned goods and bottled water, fearing the worse. Now, here we are seven years later, and we’ve seen the tragedy of 9/11, tsunami in December ’04, war in Iraq…who would have ever thought that this new century would have brought about the changes that we have seen, both good and bad? The thing I have found through it all though, is that God is still faithful to His promises! |
As the year started, God began to give me some thoughts about 2007 and I want to share them with you. First, let’s look at the number seven. This number occurs frequently in Scripture, and leads to the belief that it has a very distinctive meaning. The following are just a few of the examples found in scripture:
- In Genesis, on the seventh day God rested, and hallowed it.
- Time is divided into weeks of seven days.
- Jacob served Laban for seven years.
- In Revelation, it speaks of the:
- seven churches
- seven seals
- seven trumpets
- seven signs
- seven bowls
- seven spectacles
- seven sights of the consummation
- seven confirming witnesses
- Psalms 12:6 tells us, “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.”
- The Feast of Passover, Feast of Weeks, Feast of Tabernacles and Jubilee are all ordered by seven.
- Seven is the number:
- of sacrifice in 2 Chronicles
- of purification and consecration in Leviticus 8:11
- of forgiveness in Matthew 18:21
- of reward in Deuteronomy 28:7
- Seven is used also to mean "abundantly" in Genesis 4:15, Leviticus 26:24 and Psalms 79:12.
- Notice how Joshua 6:4 describes the march around Jericho:
- Joshua 6:4-6 - And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.
- Elijah’s servant looked for rain seven times in 1 Kings 18.
- Naaman dips in the Jordan seven times in 2 Kings 5.
- Proverbs 24:16 tells us that the just man rises after falling seven times.
So what does all this mean for us?
So what does all of this mean for us, the seventh year into this new century? 2007 will without a doubt be a very significant year in our lives. In Strong’s Dictionary, the root of the word “seven” means, “be complete, indicates completion.” I believe this year will complete seasons…and make room for new seasons to begin. Things we have been praying for, even for years, will come to pass…will be completed! We will see healings, breakthroughs, miracles, restorations! The year 2000 started off with such uncertainty, but here we are, already seven years later, about to see this season go, but not empty handed. Remember, the walls of Jericho looked huge to God’s people, but on the seventh day, the seventh time around, the walls fell!
Not only will we see things come to pass that we’ve been praying about, I believe we will no longer have to labor as we have in the past for them! As I was praying about this year, God reminded me that Genesis 2:2 tells us that on the seventh day, God rested.
- The priests did their part on the 7th day, and God did the rest!
- Naaman did his part and after the 7th dip, God did the rest!
- Elijah’s servant did his part and after the 7th look, God did the rest!
I pray you have done your part, because if you have, now God is going to do the REST! He’ll complete it! Rest in Him and trust that He’ll finish it!
So let’s start this year off, not with dread and worry, but with the faith that this will be our year of completion!
